DataMites held an interview with Ashmita Shetty to uncover her remarkable career transition. Let’s delve into the perspectives that guided her noteworthy progression in his professional trajectory.

Q) Hi Ashmitha, could you kindly tell us about your background?

I am basically from Mangalore, and I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Information Science in 2018. I had worked as a quality analyst at Amazon for three years. Currently, I work at Sagas IT as a Data Analyst.

Q) How was your learning process at DataMites?

It was in 2021 that I joined the DataMites for Data Science Course. Except for the fact that data science is a trendy topic, I had no idea what it was. The trainers from DataMites guided me from head to toe, and I greatly benefitted from the study materials they provided. Apart from that, I followed youtube channels like Krish Naik and Pre-Code Camp as well as Kaggle, to understand more about the domain.

Q) Did you have practical knowledge of statistics before joining the DataMites Course?

No, I started my first job with a completely non-technical profile. I had a rudimentary understanding of programming, but not much. Joining DataMites aided me in gaining proficiency in the programming languages such as Python, which was a foreign language to me at the time, and statistics, which was a difficult subject for me.

Q) Which channel helped you the most for data science job applications?

I used LinkedIn but it didn’t help that much. However, the Placement Assistance Team at DataMites were very helpful and guided me every step of the way. I got to land a job through PAT directly.

Q)  In your current position, what types of interview questions have you faced?

My first round of interviews was an assessment of SQL, general aptitude and python. Following that was a face to face interview with the CEO of the company where I was asked about python and visualization tools.

Q) How did you prepare for the interviews?

Actually, I had prepared for 3 interviews within a span of 15 days after DataMites Training, of which the first two unfortunately I didn’t get. I focused more on the topics that I was unable to confidently answer during the interviews. And it was during the third one that I was chosen and offered a position with Sagas IT.
