Venkata’s Data Science and Azure Data Engineering Journey:
Venkata Sai Chaitanya shares her journey from learning Data Science and programming fundamentals to securing an opportunity as an Azure Data Engineer at Confideo IT Services.
1. Can you tell us about your educational background?
I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering in 2025 from Anurag Group of Institutions of Technology and Science. After completing my graduation, I decided to build my career in the data domain and joined a Data Science course in Hyderabad.
2. Why did you decide to build a career in the data field?
I was looking for a stable career where I could continuously learn and work in an area that interested me. I wanted to develop technical skills that could help me build a long-term career, which encouraged me to explore the data field.
3. How did you hear about the DataMites Institute?
One of my friends had already studied at DataMites Institute. My friend recommended the institute and explained that the trainers were professional and that the concepts were taught in an easy-to-understand manner. Based on that recommendation, I decided to join the course.
4. What was your experience with the training sessions?
My experience with the training sessions was very good. The trainers explained the concepts in a simple way, which made it easier for me to understand and learn. The teaching approach helped me gradually become more comfortable with technical topics.
5. Did you have any programming knowledge before joining the course?
I had very limited knowledge of coding before joining. Since I came from a Data Science background, I did not initially know much about programming. After joining the course, I learned the fundamentals of coding and gradually developed my Python skills.
6. Which technical skills did you learn during your training?
During my learning journey, I gained knowledge of several important technologies and concepts, including Python, SQL, Power BI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Analytics, and Data Engineering. This broader exposure also helped me understand that the data industry offers multiple career paths.
7. How important were practical projects in your learning journey?
Practical projects were very useful because they allowed me to apply the concepts I learned during training. Instead of only studying theoretical concepts, I was able to understand how different tools and techniques are used in practical situations.
8. How many projects did you complete?
I worked on several projects, including four capstone projects and one real-time project. The capstone projects helped me understand Machine Learning and other data science concepts, while the real-time project provided exposure to technologies such as SQL, Power BI, and Python.
9. How did the internship help you?
The internship gave me valuable practical exposure. By working on projects, I gained a better understanding of how the actual process works and how technical concepts can be applied to solve problems. It also helped improve my confidence and practical knowledge.
10. How did you get the opportunity for the Azure Data Engineer interview?
After completing my course and internship, I received a call from the placement team informing me that I had been shortlisted for an Azure Data Engineering interview. They also provided sample questions and information about what I could expect during the interview.
11. Your course was in Data Science. How did you prepare for an Azure Data Engineer role?
Although my primary course was Data Science, I had also gained knowledge about Data Analytics and Data Engineering. When I learned that the opportunity was for an Azure Data Engineer position, I focused on understanding the responsibilities of the role and studied the relevant concepts before the interview.
12. What did you learn about different careers in the data industry?
During my learning journey, I understood that the data industry has different career paths, including Data Science, Data Analytics, and Data Engineering. Learning about these areas helped me understand the different opportunities available and identify where my skills could be applied.
13. What type of questions were asked during the interview?
The interview covered different areas. It started with my self-introduction, followed by questions related to Python and SQL fundamentals. I was also asked technical questions and Python coding-related questions. The interview covered multiple areas in a single round, so having a strong understanding of the fundamentals was important.
14. What advice would you give to students preparing for data-related careers?
My advice to students is to choose their career path carefully, build strong fundamentals, and stay confident in their skills. Whether you want to become a Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or Data Engineer, consistent learning and preparation are important. If you find any topic difficult, take the time to understand it thoroughly and continue improving your knowledge, as proper preparation and confidence can make a significant difference during interviews.
